Craftivists!

The Brighton Etsy Team are holding a event next weekend, here is what it's all about!

This month Etsy would like us to take part in a bit of Craftivism.

As a group we wanted to come up with an interesting way to use our crafty endeavors to raise some money for a worthwhile local charity.

So we are very excited to announce our plans! Thanks to the lovely ladies at Super+Super ( Brighton's most friendliest creative hub)  we will be taking over their shopfront and giving the folks of Brighton some LIVE craft action!

Drum roll...this is the plan:

On Saturday 29th March from 11am - 6pm we'll set up camp in the window of Super Super. From suggestions made at last months meet ups we've curated a line up of 14 Btn Etsy members - every hour 2 people will be in the window busy making something each, so at the end of the event we should have at least 14 pieces of work.

Each piece will become a raffle prize and all profits from the raffle will go to the local disability led arts organisation Carousel.

Super super are also very kindly letting us create a window display incorporating the wonders we've made and this will be on display for the WHOLE of April! We've decided to go with a subtle theme of the Etsy colours - Blue and Orange so it will be sure to everyone's attention.

The raffle tickets will be on sale for all of April so it would be great if you could all help spread the word. We'll kick off the raffle at the upcoming BTN Etsy talk at the Old Market, Hove 7th April and choose the winning tickets at Aprils monthly meet up.

If anyone would like to donate some more prizes ( handmade goodies obviously!) with the theme of blue and orange please let us know.

Full timetable of the event will come soon...!

ROAR!

Zambia Fundraiser

How was your weekend?

Some of you may have seen on instagram shots of the preparation for the Auction of Promises which my family held back in the Shire.

This is because I'm going to Zambia in April with my family and Six Formers from Wye Valley School (Buckinghamshire). I'm ridiculously excited as I have never been to central Africa.

We are raising money for Life Straws and materials to help provide tools for the people of Lusaka to set up mentoring schemes within the school there. You can find out about Wye Valley's seven year partnership with Libala High School here.

My mumma organised an Italain Supper Evening with an auction of items donated by friends and local businesses.

It took us 3 hours to set up the tables!?!

This meant that Amelia (my sister, and designosaur model) and I spent all day setting up the tables for over 100 guests whilst my mum and friends cooked copious amounts of Lasagne, and my dad finalised the Auction listings. There was a lot of help along the way from friends of my parents too!

We donated a George necklace, which went for much above the RRP which was great!

You can get your very own George here.

This is Brandon, he sang on the night and was pretty awesome. Also from serious stalking I've found out that he might be coming to BIMM (Brighton Institue of Modern Music) so you may see him about if you are Brighton based like us!

Obviously Jacques got dragged along to lift things, serve dinner and make 100 coffees, so on Sunday we were all shattered!

It was a great evening and we managed to raise a huge amount of money. If you would like to give to the Appeal then please click here.
